Continuing Professional Development. It is a requirement for health professionals in South Africa to complete audited material as part of ongoing commitment to learning. Users of this site from outside South Africa can still make use of all the online material and choose to skip the CPD quizzes, or maintain the CPD certificates for your own record of learning.

Regular new content is loaded every 2-4 weeks. See the calendar on the e-Scholar page to see the schedule for upcoming material. Extra topics you request will be loaded in the following calendar month as additional content. Any subscriber can request a training topic regardless of the package subscribed to. This means you direct the content you want to see on the website. Literature support material, case management guidelines and other clinical practice tools are generally not CPD accredited, but available for use/educational purposes.

No problem, you can register from anywhere. The HPCSA number is required only to track your CPD points. Use your personal health professional registration number from your country in the HPCSA field – this will appear on your course completion certificates for your own records.

You can’t share an account because all the activity you complete in the secure membership area on this site is tracked to give you your own CPD point credits and certificates at the end of each course or as a summary at the end of the year.

No, these deals are for individual users. However, we can develop multi-user content for university teaching. Visit the Corporate Services page or contact us to discuss.

Generic items are algorithms, templates or other practice tools watermarked with the CriticalPoint logo in PDF format. They are often linked to the training video topics and are available for download and use, but cannot be edited. Custom items include access to an editable version or fully custom development of a tool for a particular patient sub-group or clinical setting upon request. All custom requests are part of the Premium package. Custom requests from users of other packages cost extra, but can be done. Additionally, free material can be found in the Resources tab.

Core training videos, case studies and other self-study material is CPD accredited. You can earn at least 1 point per 10-20 min online video topic and case study if you answer the associated questions. Premium package users earn double points.

At least one new resource of each type is added every month. When you sign up you have access to all previous material on the site as well as continued access to new material until your subscription expires. Watch the calendar to see the schedule of upcoming offerings.

Limits on clinical queries or medical aid support depends on the package you subscribe to. This service is unlimited for Premium users, but is subject to cumulative time limits in all other packages and therefore depends on the complexity of the query.

You can ask anything to do with clinical care and medical nutrition therapy of patients particularly with reference to medical nutrition therapy, parenteral or enteral nutrition support, advice about management of a particular clinical case, practice operational issues, scientific evidence/literature, product specs and usage, ethical dilemmas. If CriticalPoint can’t help you with your query, we will direct you to someone who can.
